Who qualifies for SNAP in Florida

Income limits

Most households must have gross income at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level. Certain household expenses can be subtracted from total monthly income when calculating the SNAP benefit, including shelter expenses, dependent care, medical expenses for elderly or disabled household members, child support paid, utility costs, and an earned income deduction.

Other requirements

Applicants must provide proof of identity, a Social Security Number (or proof of application for one), and meet Florida residency and citizenship or qualified noncitizen status requirements. Most able-bodied adults aged 16–64 must meet work requirements unless exempt.

Assets

Most households may have vehicles, bank accounts, or property and still qualify. Households with a disqualified member must meet an asset limit of $3,000, or $4,500 if the household includes an elderly or disabled member.
