Temporary monthly cash payments for families with children

Temporary Cash Assistance (TCA), Florida's version of the federal TANF program, provides monthly cash payments to help families with children cover rent, utilities, clothing, and other basic needs while working toward self-sufficiency.

Before you apply: Cash assistance is limited to a lifetime total of 48 months as an adult (with exceptions for child-only cases). Always confirm current rules at myflfamilies.com.
Eligibility

Who qualifies for TCA

Household requirements

TCA is available to families with children under 18 (or under 19 if a full-time high school student). Pregnant women may also qualify in the third trimester if unable to work, or in the ninth month of pregnancy.

Assets & vehicles

A family's countable assets must be at or below $2,000. Licensed vehicles needed for individuals subject to the work requirement may not exceed a combined value of $8,500.

Other requirements

Households must cooperate with child support enforcement, keep children under 5 up to date on immunizations, and ensure children aged 6–18 attend school. Adults must meet work requirements unless exempt.
