Florida Medicaid

Health coverage for children, pregnant women, parents, seniors, and people with disabilities

Florida Medicaid provides health coverage to eligible low-income residents. Because Florida has not expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, eligibility is categorical — income limits vary sharply depending on whether you're a child, pregnant woman, parent, senior, or person with a disability.

Before you apply: Medicaid income limits change annually and vary significantly by category. Always confirm current limits at myflfamilies.com.
Eligibility categories

Who qualifies, and at what income level

Children & pregnant women

Children and pregnant women qualify at considerably higher income levels than other adult categories, since these groups are prioritized under federal Medicaid rules and Florida's KidCare program.

Parents & caretakers

Florida has some of the lowest income limits in the country for parents and caretaker relatives — often only a few hundred dollars per month for a small family, since Florida has not expanded Medicaid.

Seniors & long-term care

Seniors and people with disabilities may qualify for long-term care Medicaid (nursing home or home and community-based services) through a separate income-cap pathway, with different asset and spousal protection rules than standard Medicaid.
